If you need a light backpack for chill overnight camping trips in an organized camping area then look elsewhere. Gregory’s Palisade 80 is a serious backpack for serious, extended trips requiring that you schlep a great deal of food, clothes and gear over long distances. The Palisade 80 comes in three sizes. The medium boasts 82 liters of storage space and weighs in at 6 lbs. 3 oz.

The main body of the backpack is constructed of 210-denier Double Box high tenacity nylon. Parallel ripstop yarns are woven into the fabric to enhance the overall strength of the material and there are special high stress areas that are reinforced with 2100-denier high tenacity nylon twill. The bottom of the Palisade 80 is made of a waterproof and extremely durable, thermoplastic elastomer material.

One of the really amazing features of the Palisade 80 is Gregory’s Response Custom Fit Suspension. This special system pivots, adjusting to accommodate the movement of your hips and the movement of your body. The frame of the pack is made up of an HDPE framesheet with two 7075-T6 aluminum stays and a cross stay which are designed to stand firm under the strain of heavy loads. The hipbelt and harness are 3-D precurved for comfort and utilize dual density foams that offer a remarkable amount of cushioning without any binding or pinching as well as fantastic ventilation..

The main compartment of the backpack has access points at the top, front panel and bottom of the bag which is extremely convenient for getting hear buried in your pack without having to dump everything out or mess up organization. The side compression straps help to secure loads, both large and small, for optimized stability. The backpack has a hydration compatible design which includes a reservoir sleeve as well as a drink-tube exit so you can hydrate on the move. The top lid pocket is perfect for carrying your maps, compass or any other essential gear and can be removed and used as a lumbar pack. There is a large zippered front pocket which is perfect for carrying a jacket or for use as a compartment for storing wet clothing. In addition, the Palisade 80 also feature two hip pockets, a stash pocket, water bottle pocket and a side stretch pocket so you have plenty of options when it comes to organization and storage.
